Overview
A survey is evidence. It may be read months later by insurers, lawyers, arbitrators or owners deciding whether to repair or trade. The report must make sense to people who were not there and stand up to careful review.

Scope of work

- How quickly can a surveyor attend?
- It depends on the port and access arrangements. We confirm realistic attendance timing when instructions are received rather than promising a fixed response window.
- Will the report be admissible in a dispute?
- Reports are written to be usable in claims and legal proceedings: dated, evidenced, photographed, with methodology stated and opinion clearly identified as such. Admissibility itself is a matter for the tribunal.
- Do you carry out draft surveys?
- Yes, including initial and final draft readings, tank soundings, density and constant calculation, with the full calculation shown in the report.
- Can you attend on behalf of cargo interests rather than the vessel?
- Yes. We act for whichever party instructs us and disclose our appointment accordingly.
- What is included in a condition assessment?
- Scope is agreed in advance and typically covers structure, coatings, tanks or holds, machinery in operation and safety equipment, referenced against the vessel's age and intended trade.
- Do you take samples?
- Where instructed. Samples are taken by a stated method, labelled, sealed and retained or forwarded as directed.
