Overview

Replacing an asset is rarely the only option. A well-scoped rehabilitation programme can restore reliability, close compliance gaps and extend useful life at a fraction of replacement cost, when the scope is based on an honest technical assessment.

Maritime Expertise assesses condition first, then defines a rehabilitation scope that prioritises safety-critical and reliability-critical systems, and supports the owner through execution and verification.

Scope of work

  • Baseline condition assessment of the asset and its critical systems
  • Definition of safety-critical and reliability-critical work items
  • Technical specification and work scope preparation
  • Yard and vendor enquiry support
  • Cost and downtime comparison across options
  • Supervision and progress reporting during execution
  • Verification and testing on completion
  • Handover documentation and updated maintenance requirements
  • Crew training and familiarisation on rehabilitated systems

Frequently asked

How do you decide what should be rehabilitated?
By condition and consequence. Systems whose failure affects safety or stops the vessel earning are addressed first; cosmetic work is scoped last.
Do you carry out the work yourselves?
We define scope, specify work, support vendor selection and supervise execution. Physical work is carried out by yards and specialist contractors.
Can rehabilitation be done without taking the vessel out of service?
Some scopes can be completed in service or during scheduled port stays. Others require docking. We set that out clearly at the assessment stage.
Do you support fuel efficiency improvements?
Yes, based on measured operating data rather than generic claims. Recommendations state the assumptions behind any expected improvement.
Is training included?
It can be. Rehabilitated or upgraded systems only deliver value if the crew operating them is familiar with the change.
